Fitness Doesn't Have To Suck...

I think that you either like to workout or you don't, but often times, people do not want anything to do with it!
Personally, as a Personal Trainer, I like it, but I also don't feel like doing it all the time!
It doesn't have to suck and it doesn't have to be something awful!
As a trainer, I can't tell you how many clients have said to me that past trainers told them that No Pain No Gain was a must! If you're not in pain, you're not getting anywhere...
This couldn't be further from the truth and in fact, is a dangerous practice and I really cringe when I hear it...
One shouldn't feel pain while exercising and if you do, you need to reassess your form and if that doesn't help, we move on to a different exercise.
Often times people use their joints instead of muscle to do an exercise and that creates pain, but there are things like inflammation due to poor diet and other morbidities that come into play as well.
Getting fit begins in the mind before anything else. We have to want to be healthy and fit or it just won't happen!
If you want to see a changed body, you will do anything to get there, within healthy boundaries of course...
But often times people just don't like it, so what can you do to make it less awful?
Here are some tips:
Know your Why...
Your why is everything. Are you doing it strictly for vanity? Because if so, that's not a good reason. Doing it for vanity crashes and burns very quickly! The healthy why is, I want to look better yes, but I want to feel better and be cellularly and emotionally healthy and secure!
2: Hire a Trainer! Not just any trainer, but someone who really understands the body and how it's designed by God to function and work and who will listen to your needs and desires, to truly help you on your journey! They can't do the work for you, but they can be your best source of help and support!
3: Understand that perfection doesn't exist... You don't have to be perfect and you don't need to compete with anyone but yourself. Just go with the flow and show up and that's the best way to see amazing results long term!
4: Check your expectations! If you expect results overnight, you'll always be disappointed and give up! This takes time... Getting unhealthy and overweight takes time and getting fit takes even more, so remember to have realistic expectations and be kind to yourself.
5: Workout with a friend or loved one! I truly believe couples who workout together last longer as well as pray together, but that's just me.... I personally don't like to workout with people unless it's a spouse, but it can be very effective for many people to stay on track and stay motivated! Helping each other to succeed and push through the hard times. :)
6: Lastly, you HAVE to change your diet and lifestyle. IF you don't, you will not see results. It's just a fact. You can't workout your way to health, it has to happen spiritually, emotionally and physically! Changing lifestyles is a process and journey and diet and unhealthy habits must be addressed!
